A customer's experience
“I run a livery yard and was constantly putting off invoicing until the evening. SaidToPaid lets me create invoice drafts from voice notes while I’m working, which has made keeping on top of payments much easier. It’s simple to use on my phone and saves me a lot of admin time.”
Why do instructors dread invoice day?

A freelance instructor might teach at four yards in a day. Remembering who had what — and who still owes — by the end of the week is hard.
Parents and owners pay faster when the invoice arrives promptly and clearly itemised. Late, vague invoices get paid late.
SaidToPaid is an invoice app freelance riding instructors use to bill lessons, clinics and travel from spoken or typed notes.
How does voice invoicing work for riding instructors?
You say one sentence. SaidToPaid turns it into separate, priced invoice lines.
“Invoice the Patel family for two private lessons at £35 each and one shared lesson £25, plus £10 travel.”

Frequently asked questions
How should a freelance riding instructor invoice lessons?
Invoice promptly with each lesson itemised. With SaidToPaid you say or type the lessons you taught — for example "two private lessons at £35" — and it builds an itemised draft you send from your phone.
Can I sell blocks of lessons in advance?
Yes. SaidToPaid lesson packs let customers buy a block of lessons by card or invoice, then book each lesson against their balance, with your approval.
Can SaidToPaid create invoices from voice notes?
Yes. You record a short voice note or type a few lines describing the work, and SaidToPaid turns it into an itemised invoice draft with the customer, each line and the price. Riding instructors use it so they don't have to sit down and type invoices at the end of the day.
Can I review an invoice before it is sent?
Yes. Nothing is sent automatically. Every voice note or typed write-up becomes a draft first. You check the lines, change anything that's wrong, then approve and send it.
Can I invoice hands-free while working away from a desk?
Yes. SaidToPaid is a voice-to-invoice app: dictate a voice note in the van, at the yard or between visits and it becomes an invoice draft. Riding instructors can then approve and send it from a phone, with no laptop needed.
How can customers pay the invoice?
Each invoice can include an instant payment link so customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay once card payments are switched on, or by bank transfer using your bank details.
Do SaidToPaid invoices meet HMRC requirements?
Invoices include a unique invoice number, your business name and address, the customer, the date, itemised lines and the total. If you're VAT registered, add your VAT number so VAT invoices show it. Check HMRC guidance for your situation.
How much does it cost?
Your first 5 documents are free and you don't need a card. After that, founding pricing starts at £10 + VAT a month for Solo (100 documents a month) or £20 + VAT for Pro, which adds automatic payment chasing, the customer portal and recurring schedules.
Invoice wording & UK business checklist
Invoice terms you can copy
Plain wording to add to the notes on your invoices. Save it once in your settings and it goes on every invoice. General guidance, not legal advice.
Late payment (business customers)
Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date. If you are a business customer, we may charge interest on late payment at 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate, plus fixed compensation, under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Payment in advance and notice
Livery is payable monthly in advance. Either party may end this agreement with 30 days' written notice.
Vet and farrier authority
If we cannot reach you in an emergency, you authorise us to call a vet or farrier for your horse. Their fees will be added to your next invoice.
Extras
Extra services such as clipping, additional turnout, rugging changes and wormers are charged at the rates in our price list and shown on your invoice.
The late payment law only covers business-to-business invoices. Fixed compensation is £40 on debts under £1,000, £70 up to £9,999.99 and £100 from £10,000.
Livery yard checklist (UK)
- Give every client a written livery agreement covering services, prices, notice and what happens if bills go unpaid.
- Every horse must have a passport, and in England a microchip. Check them when a horse arrives.
- Agree your yard's vaccination rules, such as equine flu, in writing. Many yards and competitions require it.
- Have care, custody and control insurance as well as public liability.
- List extras with clear prices so clipping, turnout and wormers end up on the invoice.
General guidance, checked October 2026. Rules change and vary by council, so check with your local authority, insurer or HMRC.
