Our story

Built from seeing the paperwork pile up

I’m Kamal Leadbitter. I work in marketing and software automation, and I keep horses at a private yard my family runs. That is where I saw how often a busy day was followed by another evening of paperwork — and decided I could change it.

A bit about me

By day I work in marketing, helping companies show up in AI answers — the same field that shapes how this site is written and how search engines and assistants find it. SaidToPaid borrows those skills: I want the right tradespeople and yard owners to actually find it.

The idea came from the other half of my life. I have a couple of horses at a private yard my family runs, which also takes liveries. I got more involved in the equestrian world through hacks and horse shows, and my partner competes. That is where I saw how hectic the days can be — and how the paperwork waits for nobody.

I didn’t set out to build software for the equestrian world specifically. I just knew I had the ability to take a routine everyone accepted as painful and make it smaller. Voice note in, invoice draft out, paid sooner. That’s the whole product.

Why it exists

I saw grooms, yard owners, freelance riders and other equestrian businesses trying to remember hours and charges after a long day. Invoices went out late because the work had to come first.

I built SaidToPaid to make that simpler: say or type what you did, check the invoice draft and send it. The same idea now helps freelancers, trades and other service businesses that work away from a desk.

What matters to me

  • Low, honest monthly pricing — no per-invoice fees and no setup charge.
  • Nothing reaches a customer without the business approving it first.
  • Every document carries the trade business's own name, logo and bank details.
  • We say plainly what is live, what is in beta and what is still to come.

How it started

  1. The idea

Evenings at the family livery yard, watching good days end in paperwork.

  2. The first build

A voice note that turns into a draft invoice — say what you did, check it, send it.

  3. The first results

Rose Court Livery saved 7.3 hours and £127 in one month.

  4. Today

SaidToPaid serves UK trades and service businesses, with the same promise: less admin, more work.

What SaidToPaid does

  • Voice note to invoice

Say or type what you did. SaidToPaid drafts the estimate or invoice for you to check.

  • Payment reminders

Polite reminders on your schedule, stopping once you're paid.

  • Google review requests

Ask every paying customer for honest feedback.

  • Recurring work

Regular visits booked and invoiced without re-typing.

See how each feature works

Where things are today

SaidToPaid is a small, founder-led UK business. Some features are marked Beta or Coming soon on the site, and I say so plainly rather than overpromise. The first real results come from Rose Court Livery, who saved 7.3 hours and £127 in one month.

Quick answers

Who is behind SaidToPaid?
Kamal Leadbitter, the founder, who writes the articles and guides on this site.
Who is it for?
UK tradespeople and small service businesses who'd rather be working than doing paperwork.
Can I try it without paying?
Yes. You can create and preview an invoice or estimate without a card.

Who writes the articles

I write the articles on the SaidToPaid blog using what I learn from the product and published UK guidance on invoicing and payment. Where an article covers tax or law, I link to the official source rather than trying to replace professional advice.
