Farrier invoicing software: SaidToPaid, Hoofit and The Farriers App compared

Compare SaidToPaid, Hoofit and The Farriers App on pricing, voice invoicing, appointments, horse records and offline working. Find out which features suit your farrier business and what to test before choosing.

*Published by SaidToPaid. Provider information checked on 20 September 2026, with additional SaidToPaid feature details supplied by its founder. This is not a hands-on review.*

For farriers who want to create invoices without typing every line, SaidToPaid lets you start with the job details: speak or type what you did, check the draft and approve it for sending. Alongside its diary and horse information, it offers follow-ups for missing details and automatic review requests, with features depending on your plan.

Hoofit and The Farriers App combine invoicing with specialist appointment and horse-management tools. This comparison helps you decide which features your farrier business needs, including the work each product can help with after an invoice is created.

Farrier invoicing software checklist

Key: ✓ means the feature is described in the provider's public information or, for SaidToPaid, confirmed by its founder. Not confirmed means we could not verify it in the sources reviewed; it is not a claim that the feature is unavailable. This is a feature checklist, not a score or hands-on test.

Published sources include SaidToPaid's services and plan details, Hoofit's features and plans, and The Farriers App's pricing and FAQs. SaidToPaid's founder additionally confirmed its diary, repeat appointments and ability to store information against individual horses. Its offline option is to save audio on your phone for later upload; the comparison does not establish offline invoice generation inside SaidToPaid.

Appointment reminders and overdue-payment reminders solve different problems. Check both if you want the same app to remind an owner about the next visit and follow up an unpaid bill.

Where can SaidToPaid be the better fit?

When you want to describe the work instead of entering each invoice line yourself. Record the customer, horse, service and agreed charge after the visit. SaidToPaid turns those details into a draft that you check. You can also type a short description. See how the draft is prepared.

When an incomplete note needs a question back. SaidToPaid's Pro plan lists missing-information follow-ups. Its service description says it can ask when details such as a price or customer information are unclear. You still check the result: it cannot identify every possible omission. See the feature explanation.

When you also want to follow up completed work with a review request. SaidToPaid advertises automatic Google review requests, so asking for feedback can sit alongside invoicing. That is a separate feature from chasing payment. See SaidToPaid's workflow.

These are useful reasons to shortlist SaidToPaid if your immediate need is invoice preparation and follow-up. Voice drafting, missing-information conversations and automatic Google review requests were not confirmed for the other two products in the public information reviewed. Test any must-have feature before choosing.

How much does farrier invoicing software cost?

SaidToPaidStarter £29 + VAT: up to 30 estimates or invoices. Pro £59 + VAT: up to 100One free draft preview without a card; sending requires a separate 14-day trial with a card
HoofitStarter £35, Advanced £40, Pro £50; all plus VAT14-day trial; card requirement not confirmed
The Farriers AppPro £39.50; applicable taxes excluded under its termsOne-month trial; payment details requested when subscribing

Prices were checked on 20 September 2026. See The Farriers App's tax terms and trial details. Confirm the selected plan, current price and any payment-processing or messaging charges before subscribing.

Count the documents you actually create. Four invoices on each of 20 working days is 80 invoices a month, before estimates. That exceeds SaidToPaid Starter's allowance. Count invoices rather than horses: several horses belonging to one customer might appear on one bill.

For SaidToPaid, the plan list specifically places automated email payment reminders under Pro. Its general pricing-page wording also mentions reminders across plans, so confirm the reminder type included in your selected plan.

What should a farrier invoice include?

A clear farrier invoice connects the customer, the horse, the visit and the agreed charge.

The UK invoice essentials include a unique number; your business name, address and contact details; the customer's name and address; the service description; supply and invoice dates; amounts charged; any applicable VAT; and the total. Sole traders must also include their own name and any trading name, with an address for legal documents when using a business name. Limited companies must use their full registered company name. See the GOV.UK invoice requirements.

For a farrier, also make these details easy to find:

  • The horse's name beside the work carried out.
  • The visit date and yard, where helpful for identifying the job.
  • Separate agreed extras, such as a call-out charge.
  • The agreed payment deadline, payment instructions and invoice reference to use.

If you are VAT registered, follow the relevant VAT invoicing requirements. A horse's name or yard location helps explain the work but does not replace the paying customer's billing details.

Example: two horses belonging to one customer

Alex Taylor has two horses at Willow Yard. Both were seen on 20 September 2026. The following names and amounts are fictional; these are illustrative charges, not recommended farrier rates.

✓At-a-glance comparison
Work completedQuantityAgreed priceLine total
Molly — full set of shoes1£95£95
Jasper — trim1£35£35
Agreed call-out charge for the visit1£10£10
Total£140

This example assumes the supplier is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. These are invoice line items, not a complete invoice: add the supplier and customer details, invoice number, dates and payment instructions described above.

The call-out charge appears once because the agreement was for the visit. If travel is already included in your service price, do not add it again.

How do you invoice several owners at the same yard?

Identify who agreed to pay before combining charges. Three horses at one yard might belong to one customer, three separate owners, or a business that has agreed to pay for all three.

Keep each customer's charges separate where they pay individually. Include several horses on one invoice when the same customer is responsible for them. Agree how a shared call-out charge is allocated and record that arrangement.

The Farriers App explicitly describes keeping owners and yards separate and invoicing either, depending on the arrangement. That is a useful workflow to test if a yard manager books your visits but individual owners pay. See its owner and yard invoicing guidance.

Which option fits your farrier business?

Consider SaidToPaid if you want invoice preparation to start with a spoken description of the work. You can describe the visit, review the draft and approve it for sending. Check its diary and horse information against your working routine, along with the monthly document allowance and the plan needed for payment reminders. Read how SaidToPaid works.

Consider Hoofit if you want invoices generated from appointments alongside detailed horse history. Its advertised workflow connects appointments with invoices and includes overdue-payment reminders. Check which plan covers the horse records, payment options and reminders you need. See Hoofit's features.

Consider The Farriers App if repeat appointments, horse histories and offline invoicing matter to your round. Its published features also include monthly invoicing. Test how owner and yard billing fit your customers, and ask about overdue-payment reminders if those are essential. See The Farriers App's FAQs.

Can a farrier create an invoice by speaking?

Yes. SaidToPaid accepts browser recordings, uploaded audio and typed job details, then prepares a draft for review. For the fictional visit above, your spoken note could be:

Invoice Alex Taylor for work at Willow Yard on 20 September 2026. Molly, full set of shoes, £95. Jasper, trim, £35. Add the agreed £10 call-out once for this visit. Payment is due on 27 September 2026. My business is not VAT registered.

The seven-day payment period is illustrative; use the terms agreed with your customer. Check the customer's billing details, horse names, dates, charges, VAT treatment and total before approving the draft. A recording helps capture your instructions; it still needs your review. See SaidToPaid's voice capture and invoice features.

Voice-to-invoice drafting was not confirmed for Hoofit or The Farriers App in the sources reviewed. If that feature matters to you, ask to see it demonstrated: saving a voice note and creating an invoice from it are different functions.

What should you test before choosing an app?

Use the same fictional job in each trial so you can compare the actual work involved:

  1. 1Create an invoice for two horses with different services and one agreed extra.
  2. 2Correct a horse's name or price and check the resulting total.
  3. 3Check who receives the invoice when the owner and yard contact differ.
  4. 4Check how you record payment and stop further reminders.
  5. 5Test weak-signal working if that is a regular problem, and confirm whether your monthly volume fits the plan.

Choose based on the tasks you need every week: how you capture completed work, manage appointments, record horse information and follow up payment. Check the depth of each feature, especially what you can complete without a signal.

What should you look for in farrier app reviews?

Check the review date, app version and number of ratings, then look for a problem that matches your work. The Farriers App's UK Apple listing showed 3.7 out of 5 from just three ratings when checked. The visible written review, dated 29 May 2023, concerns a calendar view changing when booking ahead. Later updates are listed, so that review does not establish a current fault or an invoicing problem.

The accessible review evidence was too limited to identify a recurring complaint that SaidToPaid demonstrably resolves. Use the feature checklist and the same sample invoice in each trial to assess fit. Paid-plan cost, how you enter work and how payments are followed up are more useful checks than a star score from a very small sample.

A customer's experience

“I run a livery yard and was constantly putting off invoicing until the evening. SaidToPaid lets me create invoice drafts from voice notes while I’m working, which has made keeping on top of payments much easier. It’s simple to use on my phone and saves me a lot of admin time.”
